Our Mission

Home Remedies has a simple purpose: To help the elderly frail and/or disable individuals to live independently. The client's age, prognosis, financial considerations and existing home environments are factors considered for each family. Because each client's needs are different, each solution is different. Individualized services are the key to success.

Getting Started

Home Remedies was founded in 1997 as a result of home modifications associated with caring for a senior family member after being discharged from the hospital. Discussions with discharge planners revealed a serious shortage in the number of qualified home modification services available to frail seniors transitioning from hospital to in-home care. Since that time, Home Remedies has worked with Ventura County Area Agency On Aging, The Independent living council, area hospitals, rehabilitation centers, physical/occupational therapists, insurance companies and private case managers to provide handicapped ramps, wheelchair access, bathroom and shower modifications as well as other solutions to enable frail seniors to remain at home and live independently. Averaging three hundred families helped per year, I have seen every malady known to man, and the entire socio-economic scale.

Behind the Company

Paul Furtaw (owner of Home Remedies) is a licensed contractor with over 25 years experience in the building industry, including property management and ADA regulations and specifications.
